DAY 1 ARRIVE REYKJAVÍK, ICELAND: Welcome greet at Keflavík airport. Drive to Reykjavík for check-in at the accommodation. Overnight stay in Reykjavík for the next two nights. Optional: Dinner at the historic site of Viðeyjarstofa.
Enjoy ”Local in Focal”, an after-noon hands-on cooking lesson, where you learn about Iceland’s unique culinary culture and New Nordic cuisine using fresh, Icelandic ingredients given by skilled professionals at Salt Kitchen (must be pre-booked).
Pop by Café Loki – a cute little family run restaurant/café located just across Hallgrimskirkja church in the center of Reykjavik offering a beautiful view across the city. The restaurant’s cuisine is inspired by traditional Icelandic recipes passed on from one generation to the next. Café Loki offers a variety of combination platters so you can taste all of the best food that Iceland has to offer.
DAY 2 REYKJAVÍK / GEYSIR / GULLFOSS / SKÓGAR / VÍK: We travel to Iceland’s famous Gullfoss, or ‘Golden Falls’, and the nearby Geysir hot spring area to see the famous Geysir , and numerous hot springs and boiling mud pools. Continuing along the south shore we stop to admire Seljalandsfoss and Skógafoss waterfalls before continuing to Dyrhólaey* nature reserve. We conclude our journey in the charming village of Vík. Dinner and overnight stay in the Vík area. (B/D)

Visit Fontana café where you can enjoy a taste of rye bread baked underground using geothermal heat.
Efstidalur II is a traditional cattle farm. The new restaurant, located on top of the old barn, offers local beef, local vegetables, as well as homemade dairy products such as ice cream, feta cheese and “skyr”.
DAY 3 VÍK / SKAFTAFELL NATIONAL PARK / JÖKULSÁRLÓN GLACIAL LAGOON / HÖFN: Cross Eldhraun, the largest mass of lava ever to flow on the face of the Earth, before reaching the small town Kirkjubæjarklaustur, a former site of a 12th-century Catholic convent. The tour continues over Skeiðarársandur sands to Skaftafell National Park. Continue to the stunning Jökulsárlón Glacial Lagoon to see floating icebergs and curious seals. Enjoy a boat tour on the Lagoon, sailing among the majestic icebergs. Throughout the day we are afforded magnificent views of the mighty Vatnajökull Glacier. Dinner and overnight stay in the Höfn area. (B/D)
Here you have the oppurtunity to taste fresh trout caught in Kirkjubæjarklaustur area or enjoy Icelandic liquor served over glacial ice at Jökulsárlón. The town of Höfn is known for it´s North Atlantic lobster, you can feast at the Lobster Harbor restaurant and relish in Icelandic gastronomy.
DAY 4 HÖFN / EAST FJORDS / EGILSSTAðIR: We drive from Höfn through Almannaskarð pass, stop and admire the majestic coastline. Continue to the towering mountains plunging vertically into the sea that form the magnificent East Fjords. Explore Petra’s renowned collection of local stones and minerals. Dinner and overnight stay in the Egilsstaðir area. (B/D)
Optional: Visit to Maritime Museumin Fáskrúðsfjörður. Visit to the Icelandic Wartime Museum in Reyðarfjörður.
DAY 5 EGILSSTAðIR / LAKE MÝVATN AREA / AKUREYRI: Explore the empty vastness of the highland desert plateau Möðrudalsöræfi, heading to the Lake Mývatn area. Visit Námaskarð pass with its boiling mud pools and vibrant colors. Explore the natural beauty of the Lake Mývatn area, including the peculiar lava formations at Dimmuborgir, the pseudo craters at Skútustaðir and Laxá salmon river. One of Mývatn area’s claims to fame is that it is home to more species of ducks than any other place on Earth, with very diverse birdlife in general. Travel towards the bustling northern port of Akureyri making a stop at the magnificent Goðafoss waterfall. Akureyri has some of the finest timber buildings in the country, beautifully restored to their original glory. Dinner and overnight in the Akureyri area. (B/D)
DAY 6 AKUREYRI / SKAGAFJÖRðUR / BORGARFJÖRðUR: Majestic mountains and narrow passes lead to Skagafjörður, area famous for horse breeding. On this day we will be given an introduction to the unique Icelandic horse that has a special fifth gait – the tölt. Towards the village of Blönduós built on both sides of the river Blanda with Hrútey Island a protected nature reserve located in this popular salmon river. Cross the Holtavörðuheiði plateau to reach Borgarfjörður. Dinner and overnight in the Borgarfjörður area. (B/D)
Go local and stop for a traditional Icelandic coffee break at the cosy coffee-house Hlaðan, located right next to the Hvammstangi harbour. Relish in fresh homebaked Icelandic pastries in a warm and inviting atmosphere.
DAY 7 BORGARFJÖRðUR / ÞINGVELLIR / REYKJAVÍK: We explore the fertile region of Borgarfjörður, visit the picturesque Hraunfossar and Barnafoss waterfalls and see Deildartunguhver, the most powerful hot spring in Europe. We travel on to Þingvellir National Park to explore the grounds of the ancient parliament site, Alþingi, on the shores of Iceland’s largest lake. Here we see the dramatic continental drift between the American and Eurasian tectonic plates. We continue to Reykjavík. Overnight in Reykjavík. (B)
Optional: Afternoon or evening whale watching tour from Reykjavík.
DAY 8 DEPARTURE: Transfer to Keflavík Airport for the return flight. (B)
