DAY 1 ARRIVE IN DUBLIN, IRELAND: Arrive Dublin where you are met by your driver/guide. Today you will visit The Dublin Writers Museum, and Trinity College to view the Book of Kells. Tonight, enjoy a welcome dinner in hotel. Overnight in Davenport Hotel which holds UNESCO Literature Plaque. (D)
DAY 2 DUBLIN / KILLARNEY: Drive south and view the Rock of Cashel, an impressive medieval fortress complex perched atop a verdant hill. Stop at the Old Midleton Distillery, home of Jameson Irish Whiskey, a Local Specialty, and taste the triple-distilled, twice-as-smooth whiskey. Continue to charming Killarney. (B)
DAY 3 DINGLE PENINSULA EXCURSION: Take a full day tour around the Dingle Peninsula with its breath-taking views and sceneries of the Atlantic Ocean, bright sandy beaches as well as ancient and early Christian relicts and small Gaelic speaking villages. You will reach the most Western point of Europe at Slea Head, from where you can catch a view of the offshore Blasket Island, which had been abandoned by its inhabitants in 1953. You will learn more about the rough life at the sea and great literary past of the islands in the Blasket Centre in Dunquin. Find out more about fascinating life on the island in Thomas O’Crohan’s “The Islandman,” which was written in Gaelic language. Return to Killarney for overnight and dinner in your hotel. (B/D)
DAY 4 KILLARNEY / CLIFFS OF MOHER / GALWAY: Depart Killarney and travel towards Limerick, the setting for Frank McCourt’s bestseller “Angela’s Ashes,” for visit to Cliffs of Moher. See the dramatic, near-vertical Cliffs of Moher, rising 700 feet above the Atlantic. Next, onwards via the Burren to Galway for dinner and overnight. (B/D)
DAY 5 GALWAY / SLIGO: Depart Galway and travel through Connemara for visit to Kylemore Abbey. Onwards via Westport to Sligo, Yeats Country. Tonight your group will enjoy a special evening with a visit to a private home for a bit o’ food, fun and poetry. Damien Brennan and his wife Paula, together with their adult children Sarah and Paul, live at Broc House, a modern abode with rustic touches overlooking beautiful Lough Gill. Inside, you will find walls adorned with contemporary Irish paintings and a table set for a feast prepared by Paula, a noted chef. Damien, meanwhile, is an acknowledged expert on the Yeats family. Scrumptious food, fine company and the delicious poetry of Yeats come together ‘round the accommodating table, positioned in front of gracious windows that let in countryside views. Afterwards, travel the short distance to Sligo for overnight. (B/D)
DAY 6 SLIGO / DUBLIN: This morning after breakfast, depart Sligo. Stop for a visit to Yeats’ grave in Drumcliff, which is located at the foot of the Benbulben Mountain. Onwards to Dublin. Once you are back in Dublin visit the James Joyce Centre and the birth place of George Bernard Shaw. Enjoy some free time in Dublin. This evening you are free to enjoy dinner on own. (B)
DAY 7 DUBLIN: Enjoy breakfast in your hotel followed by a day of leisure to explore Dublin at your own pace. Later in the afternoon, meet back at your hotel and depart on an enchanting evening of Irish folklore and storytelling while enjoying a candlelit traditional Irish dinner in The Brazen Head, Dublin’s oldest Pub. DAY 8 DEPART DUBLIN: May the road rise to meet you as you transfer to the airport, where your Emerald Isle adventure concludes. (B)
